Hello queens!
I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas filled with lots of love and light with those you love and ate too much food! I know I did and it was also a time to realise how lucky I am. Which got me thinking about the new year looming. Are you that person who is looking back and having a pity party because you didn't achieve those "new years" resolutions you wrote back in Jan or even worse you're comparing yourself to someone "seems" to be successful and living their best life?
If you found yourself nodding at your screen you are not alone! I've fallen for this trap too and it used to put me into an episode of depression but I'm here to kick your butt a little and put YOU on track! This year has been a year of growth, trusting myself and finding the silver lining in everyday for me and I've accumulated some handy little tips over the year within my wellness journey that I want to share with you!
Here are five tips to help you reflect positively on the year that has been and create some new years resolutions that will satisfy your soul and I hope 2018 will be a positive one for you! :)
1. Be kind to yourself when you reflect on the year. So what if you didn't achieve "A" or "B" life happens good and bad and we are all human. Life is too short to be so hard on ourselves. Instead, get out a piece of paper and write down every thing positive you achieved this year (even if it's I took myself to a dance class or I met ___ ) anything in the year that made YOU happy! I'm 100% certain this list will make your heart sing and put those resolutions you didn't achieve into perspective. You are doing great!
2. Start a gratitude list. NOW is always the perfect time to start one. Every day take a few minutes before you sleep to write down three things you are grateful for. This will put everything into perspective and it's a good little confidence booster. This is a great way to start building a positive lifestyle and what a better way to start than before the new year?
3. Don't make your goals so general. "Get fit" or "be more happy" are great goals but SO broad. You want to create goals that make your heart skip a beat and are specific. For example you might have a goal like "I will be more in tune with myself by writing in a journal each day" a goal like this specific but in turn will help achieve your goal to be more happy!
4. Find an accountability partner. This is something I took from an acting class that was all about finding someone to keep you accountable for your work and basically give you the push you need to keep working. I love keeping people accountable, giving them a good pep talk and being there for them, it works both ways! So, find yourself someone to keep you accountable in the new year and kick goals together!
5. Find time before the new year to sit down and re balance yourself. It is so easy during this time of year to get stuck in all the hype. Take a few minutes before the year to check in with yourself. Journal down how you're feeling and give yourself an intention for the new year!
There you go lovelies! I hope this helps you create some kick ass goals and kick butt in 2018! You are never alone! I, myself fall into these traps but these tips help me get back on track to always radiating love and light!
